Project: Alice for Children

April 25 marked the beginning of the new school year since schools in Kenya follow a calendar that does not start in September and ends close to winter season. The last few years have been particularly difficult due to the pandemic which has had important consequences here from both a health and social point of view.

The government had in fact imposed the closure of schools to deal with the pandemic and the increase in Covid cases in the country. However, this resulted in the loss of a school year for all school cycles and a delay that put the entire Kenyan education system in serious difficulty.

For the boys and girls of the slum of Nairobi, the school is the place to build a better future, free from the poverty of the slums.

Being able to go to school is in fact essential: it is a guarantee of personal safety, food, medical assistance and personal growth. For each of these children it means having the opportunity to live a normal and as peaceful as possible childhood.

Everyday thanks also to the contribution of Mitsubishi Electric, more than 60 children can go to school and hope for a more serene future.
