A moment of creativity and inspiration: awarding certificates to the young students of the “UX Future School Lab”

Tuesday, March 24 marked the end of the first year of the “UX Future School Lab”, an experience that brought together 38 children from classes 3A and 3B at San Giusto Primary School in Milan.

On Tuesday, March 24, the first year of the “UX Future School Lab” came to an enthusiastic close. The program involved 38 children from classes 3A and 3B at San Giusto Primary School in Milan, and Mitsubishi Electric has committed to supporting it for the 2025/26–2027/28 cycle.

On this occasion, colleagues from the Corporate Communication & CSR office shared with the class why Mitsubishi Electric believes so strongly in this project, explaining how it can make a real difference for its participants. It was a moment of sharing and inspiration that led up to the highlight of the day: the official certificate ceremony, accompanied by the excitement of receiving backpacks and special gadgets - tangible symbols of a unique and valuable experience

“UX Future School Lab” promoted by the UXforFuture APS association in collaboration with the innovative startup UXforKids, was born from a simple yet visionary question

Is it possible for a class to design an app from scratch inspired by the goals of the 2030 Agenda, while also learning to study in a fun and collaborative way?

We saw the answer in the eyes of the 38 young participants. Over the course of the year, they observed, imagined, discussed, built prototypes, and tested ideas with remarkable maturity. Guided by a UX Designer, they experienced design as a tool for empathy -learning to put themselves in someone else’s shoes even before picking up a pencil or a tablet.

The activities - games, maps, and creative exercises - were designed to accommodate every learning style, valuing the class as a whole and paying special attention to the needs of students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD). The result? An environment where everyone could feel capable, heard, and important.

At Mitsubishi Electric, we believe that design is not just about aesthetics or technology. It’s a way of seeing the world: with sensitivity, critical thinking, and the desire to make it better. That’s why we decided to support this project, and the work presented by the children on this occasion confirmed the importance of continuing our commitment alongside UXforFuture APS. We can’t wait to see what the young students will create by the end of the program!
