A marathon against addiction
The social and working insertion phase is the most sensitive part of the recovery path, for addict. For this reason, Garbagnate Community, managed by Dianova Association, started the project "Laboratories in the Community: Paths towards new opportunities!"
Acquiring and developing new abilities, discovering new passions and using one's free time positively: This is the aim of "Laboratories in the Community: Paths towards new opportunities!". This project provides for outfitting and improving various spaces in the Community of Garbagnate, managed by the Dianova Association, which are destined for educational and sporting activities (such as bicycle cooperatives, woodwork, computer use, school activities, cinema forum, gymnasium). The project will contribute towards offering users from the Community further resources and tools with the aim of favouring social and work reinstatement - the most delicate phase of the whole recovery path towards one's independence.
Within the sphere of our Social Responsibility programme, we decided to support, together with other companies, the Dianova Association during the Milan Marathon 2017, to finance the project works, and on Tuesday the 12th of September, at the headquarters of the Council of Garbagnate, a celebration was held to thank all those who supported the Association – by participating in the Charity Programme of the Milanese road running event.
During the celebration, which also saw the participation of Antonio Rossi, the former Olympic champion and current councillor for Sport and Policies for the Young of the Lombardy region, as well as endorser of the Dianova Association at the Milan Marathon, a video was shown with the most wonderful moments experienced during the day of the race, followed by the testimony of a user of the Community who wanted to recount his own personal experience at the Milan Marathon, underlining its importance regarding his personal development.
During the evening furthermore, a plan was unveiled which showed how the restructuring work connected with the "Workshops in the Community" project will executed. Once the restructuring work is finished, a plaque dedicated to all the companies who have supported the association in this venture will be affixed within the areas in which the workshops will take place.
