On May 30, at our Vimercate headquarters, we spent an afternoon with Martina Confalonieri and Daniele Bianco, two of the Champions selected by the Italian national team for the Special Olympics Summer World Games. 

In total, there are 4 athletes that Mitsubishi Electric has decided to support by joining the "Adopt a Champion®" initiative. This will enable Italian athletes in June to fly to Berlin and participate in the Special Olympics World Games, the largest inclusive sports event in the world. 

Mitsubishi Electric's participation in this initiative was an entirely spontaneous and natural decision, given the commitment that the Italian branch has towards Special Olympics since 2010. The company has been supporting the association in its various initiatives in Italy and around the world, including supporting it through the active participation of its employees who collaborate as volunteers at the games.

Daniele, who will compete in basketball, and Martina, who will compete in volleyball, are joined by Simone Bilato, gymnastics, and Antonello Carnassale, soccer. Youngsters who in the past months have worked with determination to make themselves ready for this important date by becoming aware of their abilities and facing this trip with courage and willpower. 

Mitsubishi Electric wanted to meet two of them at its headquarters in Vimercate, organizing a special event. Daniele and Martina met the company's management and all the people who have supported Special Olympics athletes over the years, talking about what it means to be able to participate in these games, the excitement that comes with it, and the great commitment it takes to prove that with strength you can go far. And as a symbol of this journey towards empowerment, Mitsubishi Electric gifted them a suitcase, to be filled with the most wonderful experiences they will enjoy in Berlin.
