Even closer to the Alice for Children schools

As a part of our Company Social Responsability programme, we sustain Alice for Children since 2011, ensuring fundamental studying rights, appropriate alimentation and health care to the children

In the poorest countries, teaching has a very important meaning and its dissemination is fundamental as it represents an indispensable means for breaking the cycle of marginalisation, poverty and violence.

For this reason, we have supported the Alice for Children projects for five years, a non-profit organization which works to launch programmes in Africa which might guarantee adequate nutrition and to give the possibility to an ever growing number of orphan children to access a school education, professional training and university courses.

One of these projects is Alice for School, a school situated in Korogocho, a slum in the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. It is a primary school which can only be reached on foot, crossing poor roads with open drains and heaps of waste. Nevertheless, it is a real oasis of calm for some 1,200 children, aged between 3 and 15, who are able to go to school, play and above all eat.

The project gives all the children the possibility of studying in classes equipped with benches, chairs and blackboards, with the support of demanding teachers educated in the management of human relationships in such a difficult context. Water is supplied to the building as well as electricity, and flowers and trees have been planted as a symbol of hope and growth.

Alice for Children is one of the best schools in the area but there is still much to do. With the help of our company and other partners, the Organization is working to expand the classes, allowing for ever more children to frequent lessons and to have a meal each day. They also hope to equip the school with a library and a computer room.
