Frida: a project to support the recovery of women facing addiction

This year, we renew our support for Dianova Onlus, an association that has been helping people with substance addiction for over 40 years.

In Italy, it's estimated that women make up about one-third of people who use substances. However, due to gender stereotypes and social stigma, only one in five people receiving support for addiction is female.

At Mitsubishi Electric, in line with our commitment to the communities where we operate, we have long supported Dianova Onlus - an organization that has been caring for individuals with substance use disorders for 40 years.

This year, we specifically supported the Frida Project. The initiative provides real, hands-on support for women who have often experienced psychological and/or physical abuse.

At the Garbagnate (MI) center, qualified professionals guide participants through a path that helps them overcome stigma and self-stigma, rebuild self-esteem and dignity, improve their social skills, and promote self-care and self-acceptance.

The project offers practical tools through engaging activities such as self-defense, dance therapy, group therapy, and prevention workshops. These experiences help women take back control of their lives and build a future free from addiction and personal struggles.

On May 15, we had the chance to meet the women involved in the program during a moving and powerful event. They openly shared their journeys: stories of awareness, personal growth, renewed self-esteem, and rediscovery of their worth.

The meeting left a deep impact on us. It reminded us that real change is possible when people are truly heard and placed at the center of care. We are deeply grateful to the women who generously and bravely shared their stories with us.
