Sport inspires personal growth and the values of respecting social inclusion. We cannot imagine better ambassadors for these important values than the athletes of the Special Olympics. Even this year, these athletes will give everything of themselves to bring life to an event which symbolises the opportunity for demonstrating everyone's capability, for inner growth and self-emancipation, making the area aware on matters of learning disability.

The XXXIII edition of the National Summer Special Olympics will involve 3,300 athletes from all over Italy and will also include an international element thanks to the participation of Special Olympics Delegations from 17 foreign countries. The National Summer Special Olympics 2017 will be held at Terni, from the 10th to the 14th of May, for the sporting disciplines of athletics, rowing, dragon boat, golf, indoor rowing, swimming, open water swimming, tennis and table tennis; then at La Spezia from the 11th to the 15th of June for basketball, football, badminton, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics; and at Biella, from the 3rd to the 8th of July for bocce, bowling, riding, swimming, open water swimming, volleyball, rugby and sailing.

The Italian branch of Mitsubishi Electric collaborates with the Special Olympics Italy 2010. These last few years have seen very many sponsored events and the company volunteers have been ever more active and present at the national and local sporting events in support of the special athletes, following them, encouraging them and helping them throughout the event.
