Mathematics becomes “Cre-active”

Mitsubishi Electric supports the initiative of effediesse, Laboratory for Educational Training and Experimentation of the Politecnico di Milano University, "In Action with Math"

The teaching of STEM disciplines in schools, and mathematics in particular, takes place in a predominantly transmissive and theoretical way, without providing students with the opportunity to experience first-hand how the notions learned apply to real life and to a wide range of disciplines, from robotics to medicine.

Mathematics is also at the heart of the design of many of our solutions. For this reason, we are very happy to support the initiative of effediesse, Laboratory for Educational Training and Experimentation of the Politecnico di Milano University, "In Action with Math - Percorsi di matematica cre-attiva."

The training course for secondary school students, through a 20-hour program of meetings scheduled from March to May 2024, aims to convey to young people a perception of mathematical ideas and concepts that is no longer esoteric and for a select few but is closely linked to current social, environmental and technological development

Upper secondary school pupils will be able, for example, to compact electronic messages, analyze population trends, discover the secrets of music or the universe

Lower secondary school students will, on the other hand, have the opportunity to identify and interpret trajectories of a soccer ball or encounter the first elements of the Probability Calculus to experience probabilistic reasoning to support decisions under conditions of uncertainty.

The course is held at the Department of Mathematics (Building 14 Nave) of the Politecnico di Milano University Leonardo campus.
