An apple for research: Mitsubishi Electric supports AISM
To celebrate the “La Mela di AISM” initiative, a special corner was set up at our office, where some colleagues volunteered their time, actively contributing to support the cause.
Multiple sclerosis is one of the most serious diseases of the central nervous system. Chronic, unpredictable, and often progressively disabling, it primarily affects women.
Around 2.8 million people worldwide live with it, including over 144,000 in Italy. To date, there is still no definitive cure.
As part of our commitment to building a better future for both the planet and people, this year Mitsubishi Electric has chosen to support AISM - the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association. For over 50 years, AISM has been working on all fronts in the fight against multiple sclerosis: funding and promoting scientific research, developing and providing services at both national and local levels, and protecting the rights of people with MS to promote full autonomy and participation in social life.
On the occasion of the AISM initiative “La Mela di AISM”, dedicated to young people and held from October 3rd to 5th across Italy, more than 14,000 volunteers took to the streets to distribute bags of apples in exchange for a minimum donation of 10 euros.
We also wanted to contribute. On October 2nd, we set up a solidarity corner in the lobby of our building, where people could buy apples and directly support this important cause.
Some of our colleagues, together with friends from AISM and Nokia volunteers, dedicated their time to the corner, raising awareness among coworkers about the importance of supporting services for people with multiple sclerosis and scientific research through the purchase of apples.
On this occasion, thanks to the efforts of all volunteers, more than 150 bags of apples were sold, raising over 1,600 euros in donations.
In recent years, research has made great strides: diagnoses are now earlier, access to treatments is immediate, therapy is increasingly personalized, and rehabilitation is more effective than ever.
We know that our contribution is only a small one in the face of such a complex disease, but we believe that every gesture counts. We thank everyone who supported the initiative, demonstrating how important it is to work together for a worthy cause.
