Building the future together: Mitsubishi Electric’s support for Alice for Children and the development of Class 5G

Since 2011, Mitsubishi Electric has been proudly supporting Alice for Children, an organisation that promotes educational initiatives for young people living in the slums of Nairobi.

Since 2011, Mitsubishi Electric has proudly supported the association Alice for Children, which is committed to creating real opportunities for young people in the most vulnerable areas of Nairobi. Our commitment is driven by the belief that education is the key to empowering new generations, breaking the cycle of poverty, and supporting sustainable development.

Over the years, we have seen Alice for Children’s projects grow, and in particular we have been able to support what is now Class 5G, a stable and close-knit class at Grapesyard School. In 2025, the class once again proved its strength: 61 students (22 girls and 39 boys) attended regularly.

The year 2025 marked an important period of consolidation: academic performance improved, and participation became even more consistent and engaged compared to the previous year.

Alongside traditional lessons, Class 5G took part in a sexual education programme, an integral part of their health and awareness training, which is essential in supporting them as they move towards adolescence.

Some of the girls also took part in the My Dream – Sport for Change project, in collaboration with Fondazione Milan, where football becomes a tool for education and personal growth. Other students found in basketball an opportunity for teamwork, cooperation, and the development of self-confidence.

The period between June and September was further enriched by the presence of volunteers, who brought new experiences into the classroom: from scientific experiments such as an erupting volcano to demonstrations of material capillarity, turning Class 5G into a lively and curious learning lab.

Our contribution is also a vital part of the growth of Alice Digital School, the educational enhancement programme that provides excellent digital training through partnerships with Moringa School and the Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI). These programmes bring students closer to the digital workforce, equipping them with skills that are increasingly in demand in today’s job market.

Supporting Alice for Children means believing in the potential of young people and investing in a fairer and more prosperous future for all. We are grateful to everyone who shares this journey of transformation and hope with us.
