UXforFuture: from game to app creation inspired by the goals of the 2030 Agenda

Mitsubishi Electric supports the “UX Future School Lab” by the UXforFuture association, accompanying for three years two classes from the San Giusto Primary School in Milan

Can a class learn to design an app from scratch inspired by the goals of the 2030 Agenda - and at the same time discover how to study in a simple, fun, and collaborative way?

This is the question that sparked the “UX Future School Lab,” an initiative by the association UXforFuture, founded by the socially driven innovative start-up UXfor and the projects UXforKids and UXforTeens. The program offers a three-year, 40-hour educational journey for students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades of primary school.

Throughout the program, children become real little designers: they observe, imagine, design, and test their own ideas. Guided by a UX Designer, they learn step by step to put themselves in other people’s shoes and to create useful, inclusive solutions.

Through games, maps, prototypes, and hands-on activities, they discover that design is not just a subject but a way of learning by doing, collaborating, and building together a more sustainable and accessible future for everyone.

This methodology promotes inclusive teaching approaches suitable for the whole class. It is designed to support different learning styles, with particular attention to those related to Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), and to create an environment where every student can reach their full potential, highlighting their unique abilities and strengths.

At Mitsubishi Electric, we believe that UX Design is not just a technical discipline but a human-centered approach that fosters empathy, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Introducing these concepts from an early age helps children develop a design-oriented mindset: they learn to observe the needs of others, collaborate effectively, and propose innovative solutions.

For this reason, we have decided to renew our collaboration, which began in 2024 with the school in Rosate (MI), supporting this year two classes from San Giusto Primary School in Milan throughout the entire three-year period 2025/26–2027/28. The goal is to promote inclusive education, creativity, and innovation among the new generations.

We are thrilled by the opportunity to accompany these children through three crucial years of their educational journey and can’t wait to see the projects they will create by the end of the program!
