The Alice for Children schools are back

It is September and, as we say a fond farewell to the summer holidays, our kids are ready to return to school. There are those who cannot wait to start this year’s adventure and those who would really rather continue playing just as they have done during the summer.

Project: Alice for Children

It is September and, as we say a fond farewell to the summer holidays, our kids are ready to return to school. There are those who cannot wait to start this year’s adventure and those who would really rather continue playing just as they have done during the summer.

But Italian children are not the only schoolchildren ready to cross the threshold of classrooms since this month the Alice For Children schools reopen.

In the heart of the Korogocho slum, at the foot of the rubbish heaps of Dandora and the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Alice For Children supports three primary schools, from kindergarten to middle school, offering 2,000 children access to the right to study.

The first Alice for School is a primary school in the slums Nairobi, Kenya. It is an oasis amongst the rubbish dumping grounds, where, since 2006, 1,200 children regularly go to school, play, eat, and have access to healthcare.

The Claires Primary ALICE for Dandora School, also in Nairobi, at the Dandora landfill site has approximately 300 students, all of which are guaranteed food and psychological and social assistance.

The Alice Kilimanjaro Primary Public School stands right in the middle of the savannah at the foot of the famous African mountain range. One of the goals of 2016-2017 is to repair the pipes connecting the school to a distant well in order to ensure that 500 students have access to clean drinking water.

Our company has supported Alice For Children since 2011 in order to ensure that 81 young Kenyan students (of the Korogocho slums) have the right to study with a good teacher and a daily meal, and that orphans have medical coverage for at least one whole year.
